Peewee Reps in the Playoffs
The Gary Edgecombe Peewee Rep teams regular season ended about a month ago.  The boys limped into the playoffs having only won three of their last nine games and as a result they finished the season in third place. The Coyotes would play Oro in the first round of the playoffs and would have to play game one on the road.

The team came out flat in the first and the Thunder took it to Elmvale.   They built up a 6-1 lead and cruised to the 7-3 victory.  The Peewee Reps would have to regroup quickly with game two in Elmvale less than 24 hours later.  The boys stayed close but still found themselves behind 3-2 early in the third.  They continued to work hard and wore Oro down.  Elmvale scored three third period goals and skated to the 5-3 victory.  Game three was back in Oro and the boys had their best game in a month.  They dominated play and handed the Thunder a 4-0 loss.  The Coyotes took a 2-0 lead in game four only to have Oro fight back and tie the score.  Elmvale kicked it up a notch in overtime and  Cade Preston scored with just under 4 minutes to play to give the boys the series.
The next opponents for the Peewee Reps was the regular season champion Penetang.  The Flames took the season series 3-1 but this time the boys were ready for them.  The Coyotes hit the road for game one and were able to win a seesaw affair 6-4.  Game two was another tight checking battle until Elmvale exploded for three in the third to win 5-2.  Down two games to none, Penetang came out working hard but it was the Coyotes who scored first.  The Flames answered with three of their own and held on to secure a 3-2 victory.  Game four back in Elmvale and this time the boys fell behind 2-0.  They managed to tie the game only to have Penetang take a 3-2 lead in the third.  With hard work and determination the team tied the game but could not score anymore despite some strong effort and as a result the game ended 3-3.  The Gary Edgecombe Peewee's hit the road and again found themselves locked in a tight checking affair.  Back and forth the scoring went until Elmvale took the lead for good midway through the third on a powerplay goal from Jack Nell.  The series ended with a 4-3 Coyote victory.
With the win the Peewee's now move onto the OMHA quarterfinals against the Listowel Cyclones.  The best of five series begins in Elmvale on Saturday February 14 at 2:10 pm, so come on out before your Valentine supper with your sweetie and cheer these boys on.  Game three is Friday February 20 at 8:10 pm and game five will be on Sunday February 22 at 5:50 pm both in Elmvale.  We look forward to seeing what this team can do in the third round of the playoffs!
