Coyotes to play the Storm in the OMHA semis
The Gary Edgecombe Peewee Reps playoffs began with series wins over Oro and Penetang.  Next up for the Coyotes was the OMHA quarterfinals with a team from Listowel.  The Cyclones have an impressive record and they would be a tough team to beat.  They work hard, skate well and play some great positional hockey.

The Coyotes won the coin toss so game one was at home.  Elmvale came out strong and took an early lead.  The Cyclones continued to work hard and tied the game in the second.  Listowel capitalized on a defensive miscue in the third and held on for the 2-1 victory.

Off the team went to Listowel for game two and the boys knew that a win was needed.  The Coyotes scored in the second period and added a second goal early in the third.  The Cyclones were stifled at every turn but were able to manage a late goal making the final score 2-1.

Game three was back in Elmvale and the boys played a strong first period.  Numerous chances were thwarted by the Cyclones goalie.  Listowel kept coming and scored one in the second and added two more in the third and won the game 3-0.

For the first time in the playoffs the boys were facing elimination.  They would need to play a flawless game to beat the Cyclones on their home ice.  Elmvale played their best but trailed the hometown team 1-0 after two. The Coyotes were not discouraged and scored a couple early in the third.   Listowel evened the score late but Cade Preston gave Elmvale the lead for good with :19 seconds left.
With the Gary Edgecombe Peewee Reps win, it forced a winner take all gave five back in Elmvale.  Both teams brought their best games to the ice on Sunday night.   The boys fought for every inch of ice throughout the game.

The teams were so evenly matched and it showed all game long.  The Coyotes scored on a scramble in front of the net in the second period and Listowel responded with a goal on a two on one just past the midway point of the third.  The Cyclones pressed hard for the winning goal but Tyler Johnston stood tall in the Elmvale net and turned back shot after shot.

Off to overtime and Listowel continued to press but ended up taking an ill advised penalty. Elmvale took advantage of the situation as Cade Preston ripped a wrist shot over the goalie's shoulder and just under the bar to send the Coyote fans into a frenzy.  It was a tight checking series with all but one of the games decided by one goal.

Congratulations to the Peewee Reps on their series win.   Next up is the OMHA semifinal series against the Highland Storm.  Check the website for the upcoming series schedule and good luck to the boys as they continue their playoff journey.
