Welcome to The Atom Rep Team
Every year a coach has the task of picking what he, and a select few, believe to be the best kids to form the Atom Rep Team.  Kids that will dig deep and be proud to wear the Elmvale Coyote logo.  Kids who will not only grow as a team, but will forge friendships to last a lifetime. Coach Ryen Oakes, Assistant Coach Brian Anderson, Goalie Coach John Seney, Trainers Darryl Van Loosen and Dan Yardy believe that they have found just that. The team consists of 13 hard working boys, that are beginning to learn how to play with each other.

On Saturday, September 22, in the Town of Bracebridge, our boys faced off against the dreaded South Muskoka Bears.  Tales of the dominating, fiercely skillful team haunted the coaches sleep the night before the game, but only positivity was delivered before the boys stepped on the ice.

The Arena was a bit dark, with low seating and a perfect view from the corner.  But before I continue, let me introduce you to the team: Our Defence consist of Bryson Yardy, Carson Oakes, Brodie Ritchie and Carter Bylow.  Our Forwards are Aiden Seney, Cooper Anderson, Evan Krikorian, Garrett Oakes, Jack Crooker, Jamieson Tschop McLaren, Leim Van Loosen and Spencer Galvin. Last, but not least is our Goalie Braxton Wescott. For our first game we had to give the call up to Goalie Morgan Kelly and what a call up it was.

Morgan Kelly was an incredible player, showing his skill and mental toughness. We began the game strong, setting the tone that we would not be pushed around. At 5:58 left in the first, Bryson Yardy scored our first goal to make it 1-0.  The boys were beyond proud and high fives and fist pumps were flying.  It wasn’t long after that Jamieson Tschop McLaren scored a beautiful goal, thanks to the rebound from the backhanded shot from Evan Krikorian.  Not a moment of the game was easy, the boys had to fight hard and with 3:30 left in the first The Bears got one.  That ended the first period.

For the second period, our boys regrouped, but the physical play and fast pace of the game began to take its toll on them.  Not once did they give up and if anything it only made them dig deeper.  Aiden Seney and Jack Crooker both blocked shots using their chests, to absorb the scoring chance. While Cooper Anderson used an unorthodox method of deflecting the puck off his head, just to confuse those sketchy Bears.  Boys were throwing their bodies in front of pucks and sticking up and protecting our fearless Goalie.  With two boys in the box our Coyotes had to dig deep and was almost successful in making it through.  Unfortunately while one came out of the box, so did the puck go in the net.

The third period was a blur for everyone.  Each parent cheering on the team in hopes that they would be able to pull out a win.  The Bears were relentless and our defensive core, Carter Bylow, Brodie Ritchie, Bryson Yardy and Carson Oakes showed determination and skill in constantly getting the puck out.  The lightening fast skates of Leim Van Loosen, the never ending drive of Garrett Oakes and the Heart of Spencer Glavin was not enough to overtake the Muskoka Bears.  The final score was 5-2, but one thing is sure, the Bears will be talking about us before the next game.  Our boys have DETERMINATION and HEART and those things, eventually, will out win anything else. As always a heart felt thanks to the Elmvale Lions Club for their sponsorship.
