To All EMHA Members

It just seems like we finished up with our playoffs and the awards banquet and now we are gearing up for the start of another exciting hockey season. Coaching interviews haven taken place and most Rep coaches have been selected.  EMHA is hosting a Development 1 coaching clinic on September 15th and 16th.  Please let us know if you are interested in taking this clinic. Tryouts begin on Tuesday, September 4.  Please check the website for tryout times for each division. Please remember if your child is chosen to play on a Rep team, a $100 Rep fee will be collected.

Local league ice times begin on Friday, September 14.  Please see Events Calendar on website for times.  We are still looking for some LL coaches, please contact Shane Hall if you are interested.  As discussed at the AGM and at executive meetings, to go along with all the new LL jerseys we have purchased, we will be requiring all LL players to purchase a new pair of socks.  We hope to have those in time for start of season.

EMHA adopted a policy a few years ago that requires all players to play in their own age group. The exceptions to this rule is if they tryout and are selected for a Rep team in a age category above their own.  Trying out for an AE in a higher age division is not permitted. There are other exceptions where we may allow IP players to play Tyke or Tyke players to play Novice LL. Team numbers and skill level of individual players are deciding factors on whether or not this occurs.  So for anyone who has requested to jump up a level, we ask that you start off in the correct age category and once numbers are determined EMHA will review requests.

Booth schedules will be available Picture nights, so if this is how you are volunteering this season, please pick those up.  There will be orientation sessions for those interested in how to work the booth during the IP festival (Sept 22).  A reminder that if you have signed up for booth duties you are expected to show up for your duty or bond cheques will be cashed.  We have had too many young people working the booth and although some of them are mature and responsible enough to complete the hours, we are finding too many errors in money calculation and product preparation occurring.  There are also insurance issues with minors working the booth. Therefore, it was decided that only parents and EMHA players (over 16 who are doing their own hours) will be allowed in the booth. This means the hiring of youth will no longer be allowed .

Elmvale Home Building Centre has graciously donated pucks for all teams this season for practices and games.  If you see George Begley around the arena, please be sure to thank him or better yet, visit the store for your next purchase. Elmvale Home Building Centre has also signed up as a major sponsor for our Elmvale Coyotes Bantam Euro Tour 2013-14.

Our IP Festival will take place on Sept 22, with ice times for the IP and Tyke age players and a BBQ for players and family members.  Please be sure to attend this activity.  Free Hockey helmets for players born in 2007 are being offered again this season by GM.  Please watch for the website address on our EMHA website soon.

Volunteers will be acting as Liaisons again this season.  We are going to revamp it a little and try to have them available to meet with each team a few more times this year.  Remember if you are having an issue with a coaching staff member, player or parent on your team that you can not resolve, please contact your team liaison who will work on assisting you in resolving the issue.

Best of luck to all players trying out for a rep team this year. Try your best!

Lets have a fun, exciting and enjoyable hockey season.  Remember that we are all working together to reach the same goal - to give our children an avenue to get some exercise, make new friends and learn some new hockey and life skills in a safe and fun way to enjoy the greatest game on earth.

Go Coyotes Go!!!
