To All EMHA Coyote Players, Coaching Staff and Members

Hard to believe the season is winding down as our teams battle it out in their Round Robin Playoffs.  Many teams are positioning themselves to play in a Championship or Consolation Championship Series.  By March 9 we will know what teams will continue on competing for a Georgian Bay or Georgian Triangle Championship.  Best of 3 or 5 series will then be played to determine the winners.

As the season comes to a close for all 22 of our Coyote teams please be aware that morning ice times are finished for the season this Friday so remaining practice times will be shared with all teams.  Teams who are still in the playoffs will get first crack and then remaining teams will get an ice time or two to have their final practices for the season.  Keep in mind each team is allowed to use the upstairs for 2 hours each season.  So if you would like to have a closing party or get together and use the upstairs please have your team Manager contact Ryan or Ron from the Township.

Congratulations to our Bantam Rep team for advancing to the Quarter Finals in their quest to win an OMHA championship.  Unfortunately they came up against a big, strong opponent from Listowel who ended our Coyote chance to advance to the Semi Finals.

A big cheer out to our Pee Wee AE team for winning their home tournament in some exciting games and to the Novice Rep team for finishing first overall in the Georgian Bay regular season and for advancing to and competing at the International Silver Stick – quite an experience for these young Coyotes.

A Coyote Howl must also go out to the Elmvale Bantam Coyote Euro Tour Team and their 47 spectators who represented Elmvale with class and sportsmanship.  A great time was had by all as they enjoyed an experience of a lifetime.  Watch for OMHA President Rob Rings’ article in the next edition of Hometown Hockey congratulating our boys on a job well done!

Our Liasons should have or will be meeting with your team to go over a few things but most importantly be getting you to fill out your Coach Evaluation Forms.  Please take the time to fill these out and write some comments on the back (either positive or negative).  If you were not able to fill out an evaluation please pick one up in the folder at the black box by the double doors heading into the stands.  You can place in the black box when completed.  Please note contrary to popular belief these evaluations are reviewed and every Coach meets with Shane Hall and Kevin Fay and the Convenor at the end of the season to review the comments.  Your evaluations are used to try to improve our current coaches and in helping the Coach selection committee in picking coaches for the next season.

Numerous awards are also available to make nominations on so please do so.  Additional nominations sheets are also in the folder by the black box.

March 6 is our Elmvale Coyote night at the Barrie Colts Game.  All 200 tickets were sold and we are all anticipating an exciting game between the Barrie Colts and the Owen Sound Attack.  Our former Elmvale Coyote Chris Bigras plays Defense for the Attack so I am sure we will be cheering for both teams to play well.  Thanks to Paul Bouzis for organizing this fundraiser for EMHA.

As a follow up to our AGM last May EMHA will be having a Special Meeting pertaining to the Feasibility of our Booth Operations.  All members are invited to attend where current information from

EMHA will be shared about Booth income and expenses and the Booth Advisory Committee will present their ideas and possible Fundraising alternatives.  At the conclusion of these items we will ask the membership to vote on the continuation or cancellation of the booth.  Please watch for info to be posted in the arena.  Meeting will take place downstairs of the Library on Thursday March 20 at 7pm.

As you may have heard or saw on our website, before next season at least one parent in each family registered in hockey must complete the Respect in Sport (RIS) course.  The course can be done on line and will take approximately 60 minutes and cost $12.  OMHA is not making money on this requirement but they feel in will make our arenas a better and safer place to be next season for our players and our spectators.  Before your son or daughter will be rostered to a team next season, OMHA will require that this course has been taken.

Permissions to skate for AAA teams and forms for Non Resident Players for AA or A will be available in early April.  We are not allowed to give out these forms until the OHF Championships have been completed.  Please watch the website for information on day, time and place you can pick these up.

Please keep in mind the date for our Annual Awards Banquet which will take place on Tuesday, April 22 in the Community Hall and our EMHA AGM which will take place on Saturday, May 3 location TBD but most likely the Community Hall as well.  Check website for more information as we get closer to these events.

Best of Luck to all teams as they compete for League Championships, compete hard, fair and with sportsmanship.  A special thanks to all the coaching staffs for volunteering this season, and to all Parents and EMHA members for playing this great game of hockey.

Sincerely,

Kevin Fay

EMHA President
