McLaren Equipment Novice Reps Dig In!
The Novice Rep McLaren Equipment Elmvale Coyotes started their season on the road against some tough opponents.  The team fought hard during the first three games and even though they battled hard the scoreboard didn't reflect the excitement on the ice.  Losing to Collingwood, Penetang and Owen Sound they came home to play in front of their adoring fans which proved to be all the motivation the boys needed to pull off their first victory.

Never giving up, the Novice Rep Coyotes first faced Stayner at home.  Elmvale came out strong in the first period with a great set up by Josh Parnell resulting in an early goal by Sean Crooker putting Elmvale on the board first. The defensive skills of Keenan Crowder and Mason Schepers have been relentless in fighting back our opponents and stealing many scoring chances.  The next goal in the game came early in the second period unassisted by Alex Wickett.  Then 23 seconds later with some shifty stick handling by Jackson Mino and speedy skating from Alex Wickett resulted in a 3rd goal by Josh Parnell.  Goalie, Jonas Columbus made some heart stopping saves earning him his first shutout of the season.

The Novice Reps second home game featured non-stop end to end action against Midland. Way to hustle Coyotes! The first and second periods ended after much back and forth and some full-on activity in each end, but both goalies kept the game at 0-0.  The intense battle waged into the third and within the first 2 minutes Brady McLaren chased a pass from Ian Robertson up the ice for a break away shot on net putting Elmvale on the board first.  Some good work along the boards and hard shots from our defence Justin and Ethan Therrien kept the game exciting.  While fighting for the puck, the Coyotes were able to increase their lead with a goal from Sean Crooker assisted by Alex Wickett and Hunter Preston.  However, Midland came to life tying it 2-2.   Both teams battled hard for the rest of the game but it remained a deadlock.  With the skillful playmakers of Josh Stone and Mason Schepers the Coyotes were able to take the win with 56 seconds left with another goal by Sean Crooker.

The Novice Rep Coyotes often host Sunday afternoon home games. Come out to watch some exciting hockey and cheer the team on.  Who needs NHL hockey when you can watch these hardworking, dedicated players in your own home rink?

All the players, parents and coaches would like to thank our sponsor McLaren Equipment for a great opportunity to enjoy hockey in Elmvale.
