Legion Tyke #1 Tops Field in Wasaga
On Saturday the Legion Tyke #1 team traveled to Wasaga Beach to participate in their final tournament (and final games) of the season.  Tyke #1 would come out on top with wins over Flesherton, Dundalk, and Wasaga, capturing their 2nd Tournament Title this season.

It was not without drama as these Coyotes continue to push the envelope as it relates to late game heroics.

In game #1, after holding the lead all game the Coyotes would see Flesherton score 2 goals midway through the 3rd period to tie the score at 4 a piece.  Regulation time would not solve anything, and overtime was needed.  In overtime Ty would break free and score the winner sending Elmvale to the semi finals.

Game #2 saw the Coyotes match up against Dundalk.  This game was close throughout, but Dundalk was able to secure itself a 2 goal lead heading into the final 2 shifts of the game.  Ty was able to score the pull Elmvale within 1 heading into the final 2 minutes of the game.  With William ready to head to the bench for an extra attacker Benjamin freed himself and scored the tying goal, and sent the Coyotes to overtime for the 2nd straight game.  In overtime Trenton fired a backhander from the slot past the Dundalk tender sending the crowd into a frenzied state, and propelling the Coyotes to the Championship game.

Game #3 had Legion Tyke #1 facing the home team from Wasaga Beach.  The Coyotes struck 1st just a minute and half into the game, and never looked back.  Elmvale never trailed in the game.  Wasaga would make it interesting late in the 2nd getting back to within 1, but the constant pressure of the Coyotes forecheck was too much for the Stars to handle and Elmvale would pull away again.  Final score Coyotes 8, Stars 5.

Trenton was named MVP for the final, and William our IP AP was named 'Player Of The Tournament' for his efforts throughout the day.  William played big despite his small stature on the wing, and made several key saves in game #2 to allow the forwards the opportunity to tie and eventually win the game.

Jackson, Ty, Nathan, Nathan, Carlos, Tyler, Trenton, Quintin, William, Benjamin, and Nikolas fought hard all day, and responded admirably to the pressures that tight hockey games place upon young men.  Missing in action for this tournament were Rylan, and Cameron, but they join us in this victory as integral pieces of the team throughout the year.

And with that the Legion Tyke #1 Coyotes season comes to an end.  Tyke 1 would amass an impressive 20-1-1 record.  They would win both tournaments they entered (Simcoe & Wasaga).  3 tournament games would go into overtime, and Tyke #1 was able to win them all, not bowing to the pressure of the situation.  They would show an unparralled ability to come from behind late in games, as they won 3 games after being down 2 or more goals with less than 2 minutes to play.  It was, by all accounts, an extremely successful season that the kids should be very proud of.
