Atom Reps Take Over Top Spot
The Elmvale Lions Club Atom Rep Team has played a third of their season schedule so far.  They have faced some tough competition and most of the games have been nailbiters.  Through it all, the boys have been able to compile a 4-0-2 record.  After a long drive to Shelburne which resulted in a tie and a hard practice on Wednesday, the boys were itching to get back at it.

The Thunder from Oro came to town to take on our boys on Friday night.  The team came out with something to prove to the coaching staff and their fans.  They carried the play through much of the first period and generated numerous scoring chances.  Despite all of their hard work the teams remained deadlocked after one period.  Oro picked up the pace in the second but the Coyotes matched them chance for scoring chance.  Both forces between the pipes continued to play well and through two periods the game remained scoreless.  A few minutes into the third with Oro deep in the Coyote end, an unlucky bounce on a pass from the corner found its way into the net.  This unfortunate turn of events only made the Atom team more energized.  The boys continued to pressure the Oro defence and were rewarded for their effort when Cade Preston poked a rebound past the Oro netminder.  Elmvale didn't stop there and with less than five minutes to go, Jason Priest was sent in alone and buried a wrist shot over the goalies shoulder.  The Coyotes took a late penalty but were able to pull out a slim 2-1 victory.  With this win the Atom Rep team finds themselves at the top of the league standings with a 5-0-2 record.

This group gets solid contributions from all three forward lines, the defence has been strong and the goaltending excellent.  This coming weekend the boys take their show on the road to a tournament in Beamsville.  Good luck Coyotes and keep up the good work!
