Bantam AE Coyotes Shutout Essa Eagles!
On Tuesday, December 18th, the Elmvale Home Building Centre Bantam AE Team were at home
to take on the Essa Eagles. Looking to improve on their home record of 3-2-3, the Coyotes came out in the first period focused and determined. Early in the
period, Josh Tapscott put Elmvale up 1-0 with assists going to Jason Flury and
Landon McGinnis.
After killing off a couple of penalties the Coyotes found
themselves with a powerplay and Thomas Maw was able to capitalize, assisted by
Charlie Flieger and Tapscott. The end of the first had the Coyotes up 2-0.
The second period saw Elmvale continue to control the play and after several quality chances Maw notched his second from Alex Sweeney and Tapscott. The Coyotes would go into the third leading 3-0. With this lead the Coyotes changed their focus to securing the shutout for goaltender Tristen Chiasson, and were successful at making sure no Eagles player was able to get in close. Chiasson made several key saves when called upon and earned his first shutout of the season.
Late in the 3rd, Tapscott capped off a 4 point game by netting his second of the game from Maw and Aiden McKinstry. Final score 4-0. The Elmvale Home Building Centre AE Team is 2-1-2 in their last 5 league games and looks to keep up their focused play when they take on the undefeated Creemore Valley Hawks this Saturday night in Creemore.
