McNamara Novices Compete in Huntsville
The Novice Rep Coyotes traveled to Hunstville to compete in their 1st tournament of the year.

Although playing well throughout the Round Robin portion of the tournament and recording a 2-1 record, the Coyotes did not do enough to earn a spot in the Semi Finals on Sunday.

Friday afternoon had the Coyotes face off with the Caledonia Thunder.  Elmvale was able to get up early with a good effort in the 1st period establishing a 2-0 lead.  Caledonia would score late in the first to close the gap to just 1.  Caledonia would then ride that wave of momentum and tie the score.  This time the Coyotes would score late in the period, and then play a solid 3rd period to come away with the 5-2 victory.

Saturday afternoon had the Coyotes line up against East Nipissing.  Elmvale would control the play from the drop of the puck and cruise to a 6-1 victory.  This win lined up a game vs Midland for 1st place in the pool and an automatic berth into Sunday's semi finals.

The game was well played by both teams.  Teams exchange periods of pressure, but neither team was able break free from the tight checking of the other.  Through 2 periods the game was still scoreless.  About mid-way through the 3rd, Midland was able to pounce on a rebound and chip one by the Coyote netminder.  Despite some late pressure with the goalie pulled, the Coyotes were unable to sneak one past the Midland tender, and fell 1-0 in the game and dropped their record to 2-1 and out of contention.

Overall a real good effort by the McNamara Novices who are right back at it on Wednesday in the Den as they face Collingwood in what should be another good match up for the Coyotes.
