Still More Hockey for the Diamond Head Sprinklers Atom team
As the weather starts getting warmer and snow starts to melt many teams have finished their seasons and put their hockey equipment away for the summer and started dusting off their lacrosse sticks, golf clubs and baseball bats. This is not the case for the Diamond Head Sprinklers Atom LL team. This weekend they will be representing Elmvale, along with Elmvale LL2 at the Huntsville tournament. This was meant to be a great way to wind up the year but their great effort and team work has landed them in a series for the B championship next week against Oro.
The year can be described as nothing but a very successful year thus far with the final 10 days to have some fun and play some very exciting hockey. Our regular season had a few ups and downs but all in all with hard work and constant improvement our boys were able to pull off an impressive record of 11-6-3 which landed them in the B Division for playoffs.
This division had a total of 5 teams playing a home and home series with everyone to vie for one of the top 2 spots to have the right to play a 2 out of 3 series for the Championship. The boys all came out to play every game and with great team play and hard work we were able to come away with a 6-1-1 record which was good enough to end up in a tie for first place with Oro. These two teams are evenly matched and handed each other their only loss in the round robin.
This is bound to be an exciting series. We have a home game scheduled for Wednesday March 25 at 7 pm. These boys would love to see a crowd cheer them on as the push for a victory. If you can spare the hour of time that evening I urge you to come out as you will be treated to an action packed fun game of hockey.
As for this weekend, the team will be headed to enjoy the company of great teammates with a supportive group of parents as the Diamond Head Sprinkler sponsorship is providing the entertainment and laughs. Word has it there will even be a few hockey games played between pool sessions and mini sticks games!
Good luck and have in fun in Huntsville boys! Oro better be on the top of their game next week as we are coming for them full speed ahead.
