Glory Bound: The Bantam Rep Journey III
The Elmvale Bantam Rep team, sponsored by Hapamp, has two road wins in as many games to start their hockey season. On Friday, October 3, the team travelled to Parry Sound to take on the Shamrocks. Jacob Fay started the scoring for the Elmvale Coyotes on the first shift, and the team never looked back. Smart passing, good back-checking, strong defense, and solid net-minding carried the team to victory. Seven different Coyote players found the net in this 7 – 2 win.

The next day, Saturday, October 4, the Coyotes went to Gravenhurst to play the South Muskoka Bears. The Bears came on strong and kept the play in the Coyote end for much of the game. Nearing the end of the first, after an extended press in Coyote territory, a much needed shift change saw Greg Wagner break free to score the first goal of the game. Good defense and outstanding net-minding by William McDowell kept the Bears at bay. Robert McLaughlin scored in the second, and Jeremy Robertson in the third for a satisfying 3 – 0 victory.

By the time you read this, the team will have played yet another road game, against the league-dominating Collingwood Blackhawks. This is a challenge the confident Coyotes look forward to. On Friday, October 10, the Coyotes hit the road again for Thornbury, the home of the Georgian Shores Lightning. They end their road-trip on Saturday, October 11, with a game against the Wasaga Stars in Wasaga Beach at 8 pm.

After a well-deserved five day rest, the team will travel to Huntsville for a tournament. Possibly 10 road games in a row can certainly be a challenging way to begin a season, but this group of boys seem to be thriving.

Mark your calendars for the Bantam Rep home opening game, Friday, October 24, at 9:20 pm, when they welcome the Collingwood Blackhawks to town. The rink should be full of excitement that night as the Atom Rep team plays at 7 pm, and the Peewee Rep team plays at 8:10 pm. Come on out and support the boys.
