Glory Bound: The Bantam Rep Journey VII
The Elmvale Bantam Rep team, sponsored by Hapamp, has had their ups and downs. They have had two three-game winning streaks this season, and now are in their third three-game losing slump. In the last two weeks, they lost to the Stayner Cyclones and to the Penetang Flames.

On Friday, November 21, the Stayner Cyclones came to visit for the first time this season. The Cyclones had only played seven league games at that time and were a bit of a mystery. It turned out that they were well organized and had a plan. A defensive first period ended with the Elmvale Coyotes up by one on a power-play goal by Jakeb Veenstra. In the second, the Cyclones took advantage of a power-play opportunity to tie the game at one. The third period saw the Coyotes give Stayner another power-play and another goal. Stayner potted a third goal on a defensive error and Elmvale had to scramble. The Cyclones cemented a win with a last minute empty-net goal. The game ended in a 4-1 loss for the Coyotes.

The Elmvale Coyotes travelled to Penetanguishene on Sunday, November 23 for their first meeting of the season. The Flames came out hitting and surprised the Coyotes by scoring two early goals. Coyote Centre, Robert McLaughlin scored one at the end of the first to narrow the Flames' 2-1 lead. The second period saw the checking continue and very few infractions called. The Flames added a third goal, and the Coyotes started to look desperate. After a needed break during the flood, Robert McLaughlin scored a second time, but once again an empty net goal ended the game. The Coyotes lost 4-2.

A recent line shuffle will hopefully increase goal production for the team. In the mean time, the defense core: Braeden Allen, Ben Dietrich, Collin Kitching, and Jeremy Robertson are doing their best to keep shots down, and add to the offence.

The Friday Night Hockey line-up for December 5 is a good one with the Atom, Peewee, and Bantam Rep teams all playing. The Atoms hit the ice at 7 pm, the Peewees at 8:10 pm, and the Bantam Reps at 9:20 pm. The Shelburne Wolves are the Bantam Coyotes' opponents for the night. Come on out and support local hockey.
