Welcome IP Players and Parents!
Please check your email for the following introduction message (click the more button below to read the entire article).  Please reply to the email directly if you haven't already.

I would like to introduce myself as I will be your players' hockey coach this year. My name is Andrew Morrison and I have experience in coaching my oldest son throughout IP and Tyke (out of Petawawa, ON and most recently Barrie). I have three boys (8, 5, and 2), the oldest two now in organized hockey. My middle son Kieran will be on your son/daughters team this year. My fondest hockey memories are playing on my outdoor rink with the neighbourhood kids, simply enjoying the game. I am excited to get back on the ice and share in your players' development. My two hard rules on the ice are for the kids to 'try their best' and 'have fun'.

If you are not already aware, our schedule is available on the EMHA website at
http://elmvaleminorhockey.ca/Teams/1212/. Our first skate will be Saturday 19 September from 9:10 to 10:00am. Your player will require a complete set of equipment (including mouth guard and neck guard) to step on the ice. If you have questions about what is/is not required please ask me.

As I am the only one at this point that has come forward to coach I will be relying strongly on parent volunteers to ensure this season is successful. My focus will be on individual player skill development and thus the more on-ice helpers I have, the better. I traditionally like to break the players into small groups (3 to 5) and break the ice into specific skill stations. I will outline the practice and provide the drill(s) but will need at least 4 to 6 parents to help me on the ice.

I will be looking for at least two 'formal' volunteers to fill the following positions (each requires a course/training):
Assistant Coach - will require the Intro Coach course (one day) and Respect in Sport Activity Leader (web-based). This is required in the event that I am unable to attend a practice or game in order for us to actually go on the ice.
Trainer - will require the Trainer 1 certification (web-based) and Respect in Sport Activity Leader (web-based). This is required at all practices and games (for safety).

Without a qualified Assistant Coach and Trainer we risk not being able to skate this season (in the event that I am unable to be present).

If you would like volunteer with the team but aren't comfortable on the ice you are welcome to volunteer for either Manager or Trainer. If interested in either, please let me know.

If you would like to add an email address to the email's going out to the team, please let me know.

To allow me to prepare for our 19 September skate can you please reply to this email with the following:
1. Whether your son/daughter can skate.
2. Whether you are interested in coming on-ice to help (either just 19 September or throughout the season).
3. Whether you are interested in volunteering for either Assistant Coach, Trainer, or Manager.

Thank you in advance and I look forward to meeting you and your player on 19 September.

Ritchie's Feeds 'N' Needs & Garden Centre
Ritchie's Feeds 'N Needs is a family owned and operated business since 1978. Stan and Jackie Ritchie purchased the business and manage the store with son David. We increased the size of the business in 1991 by building the store that is in existence today. In 1996 we hired Heather (Gulley) Ritchie to manage the Garden Centre. We enlarged the Garden Centre in 1998 by erecting three gutter-connected greenhouses.
