Novice LL Tournament Champions!
The Novice LL team, sponsored by the Elmvale Legion, participated in The Coldwater Classic Tournament this past weekend. This was our team's first time playing full ice. The tournament was full with 8 teams and looked to have some fierce competition.

We faced off against Wasaga in the first game and skated away with a 5-1 win. Next up we faced South Muskoka. We found ourselves down 2-0 early.  We settled things down, battled back and were able to take the win with a final score of 6-2, sending us to the championship game. In the finals we played a team from Whitby. We weren't sure if the kids would have anything left in the tank but they came out hard and found themselves up 2-0 early. Whitby got one back, and shortly after that we restored our two goal lead going up 3-1. In the third period Whitby took a penalty for tripping sending us to our first ever power play. That didn't bode too well as Whitby scored a shorthanded goal cutting the lead to one. With about a minute to go we had a face off deep in Whitby's zone. They gained control of the puck, skated into our zone and fired the puck on net. Our goalie made a great save and then got tied up at the side of the net with one of our defenders and a Whitby player. The puck was trickling through the crease and the net was wide open. Just as it looked like a Whitby player was going to put the puck into the gaping net and tie the game our defenceman knocked the puck out of the crease and to the boards. We got control of the puck skated down on a breakaway and scored a beauty insurance marker sealing the 4-2 win for the championship!! The kids were absolutely thrilled. They played so well and worked hard and definitely deserved to win. What a great way to kick off the full ice season!!

The Barrie Colts heard about the big win and Aiden Brown and Tyson Foerster came out to Tuesday's practice to skate with the team and have some fun. It was definitely an exciting few days for the team!

Way to go Coyotes your coaches and parents are so proud of you!!
