Peewee Rep finalists at Huntsville
The Gary Edgecombe Peewee Rep players have been busy since mid September.  The teams early season schedule was erratic with a couple of long stretches of inactivity followed by a series of games.   Through it all, the boys have been able to hold it together and compile an impressive record of six wins and three ties.  With this past weekend free of league games the coaching staff decided to take the team on the road and entered the boys in a tournament in Huntsville.

Game one saw the Coyotes face a good team from Midland.  The boys came out strong and ready to go and were able to match the Centennials physical play.  Early in the second Ethan Faris gave Elmvale the lead when he scored on a nice pass from Cade Preston.  Luke Dutton notched an insurance goal late in the period.  Tyler Johnston stopped every shot he faced as Elmvale won 2-0 with their best effort of the season.

Huntsville was the next opponent, one that the Peewees has played twice before.  It was a seesaw battle that came down to a last minute goal.  The Coyotes won 5-4 with Cade Preston getting a hat trick and Jason Priest netting two.

Elmvale's final round robin game was played against South Muskoka.  The team did not bring their best game but were able to edge the Bears by a 2-1 score.  Ethan Faris and Sam Dion found the net for the Coyotes and the boys finished in first place and would play Caledonia in the semifinals.

The boys came out and took the play to the Thunder.  Isaak McGinnis scored midway through the second followed by Noah Parnell as the Coyotes took a two goal lead into the third.  Caledonia cut into Elmvale's lead early in third but Isaak McGinnis's second of the game iced it for a 3-1 score.

The finals had the Coyotes playing the hometown Otters.  Elmvale played well through the first but gave up a late goal to trail 1-0 after one.  The boys continued their strong play and were rewarded with a couple of goals in the second, one from Jason Priest and the other from Sam Dion.  The team ran into penalty trouble in the third as Huntsville scored on two powerplays and took the lead for good and ended up winning 4-2.  The Coyotes were too tired to mount any sort of comeback and ended up losing their first game this year.

The Gary Edgecombe Peewees should be proud of their accomplishments so far this season.  The boys continue their season on Friday night at 8:10 against South Muskoka.  Come out and help cheer on this young group of talented boys.
