Atom Rep Coyotes Win Regional Silver Stick
Congratulations to the Elmvale Coyote Atom Rep Team, sponsored by McLaren Equipment, who put on a dazzling display of hockey in winning the prestigious Regional Silver Stick Tournament in Wasaga Beach this weekend.

After a 12-3-1 start to their season, including a convincing win of their first tournament in Huntsville in October, the boys felt ready to make a run at the Silver Stick, and they did not disappoint. They started off the tourney on Saturday, by handing the host team a 9-3 drubbing, and followed it up by defeating the Newcastle Stars in dominating fashion, by a score of 9-0. Sunday morning provided tougher competition, featuring a solid Parry Sound team with an outstanding goaltender. But the boys were once again up to the task, coming out with a 2-1 victory, and a berth in the tournament finals.

In the Championship game, the boys found themselves up against the Simcoe Warriors, who were not only defending Regional Champs from last year, but also won the International Silver Stick in Forest, so this was no small task for the Coyotes. But the lads refused to be intimidated, jumping out to an early 2-0 lead, and maintaining their discipline and sense of team play to protect that lead, for a thrilling 4-2 victory, and the Regional Silver Stick title.

Congratulations to Tournament MVP Brady McLaren, who scored 9 goals over the weekend! Most of the boys on the team are fortunate enough to be 2-time Silver Stick champs, which is no small feat, but special mention should go out to Keenan Crowder and Josh Stone, who have both been part of teams who have won the Regional tournament for three straight years, which is almost unprecedented! Many minor hockey players never make it to an International Silver Stick, so all these young men should be very proud!

The coaches and parents would like to congratulate the boys on their exemplary effort. A great big thank you to our team staff for leading the boys on to victory, and our team sponsors, McLaren Equipment, who treated the boys to matching Coyote Jackets. They are a team to be reckoned with, and the new jackets help them to look the part! The team will travel to Forest, Ontario at the end of January, to continue their Silver Stick journey. Best of luck guys!
