BANTAM AE ARE SOUTH MUSKOKA CONSOLATION CHAMPIONS
The Elmvale Home Building Centre Bantam AE Team took part in the Kris Clement Memorial Bantam AE Tournament in Bracebridge this past weekend of Dec 15th & 16th.  The Coyotes opened up the tournament facing a Georgian Bay rival, The Owen Sound Jr Attack. Just 4 days earlier the teams had finished up their season series with a tie.  The Bantam AE Coyotes were not going to be happy with just a tie and came out strong skating to a 2-0 lead after the first period.

The second period had Owen Sound get themselves back on the board scoring 2 powerplay goals to even the score at 2-2.  Elmvale regrouped for the 3rd period and skated to a 4-2 victory.

Game 2 had Elmvale facing yet another Georgian Bay Team in the Midland Centennials. This game proved to be exactly what was expected from these teams as it was another close one.  Elmvale held an early lead but once again surrendered it and after 3 periods of play this game was tied 2-2.  5 minutes of 3 on 3 hockey failed to produce a winner and the Coyotes would tie Midland for the 3rd time this season.

Game 3 had the Coyotes facing the hometown South Muskoka Bears and the Coyotes came out looking to be up to the challenge.  The Coyotes played a strong first period and the 1-0 lead wasn’t justice to how well they played.  Period 2 saw the Coyotes spend a large amount of time shorthanded and eventually surrender 2 powerplay goals making the score 2-1 for the Bears going into the 3rd.  The 11 Elmvale skaters tried valiantly to get the equalizer in the 3rd but 3 games in one day proved to be too much and some great efforts to score resulted in some odd man rushes against and the hometown Bears took advantage, final score 4-1 for the Bears.

Sunday morning had the Elmvale Home Building Centre Bantam AE team taking on the Midland Centennials in the consolation final.  Through 5 meetings in the season these 2 teams both had records of 1 win, 1 loss and 3 ties, and as predicted this game would also be a close one.  After 3 periods of play, once again these 2 teams were tied.  Early on in the 3 on 3 overtime the Elmvale Coyotes found the back of the net and won the match 3-2, capping off a very successful weekend going 2-1-1.

The Elmvale Home Building Centre Bantam AE Team consisting of skaters, Thomas Maw, Noah Bouzis, Alex Sweeney, Andrew Sommervill, Josh Tapscott, Philip Eales, Charlie Flieger, Aidan McKinstry, Nathaniel Charman, Landon McGinnis, Jason Flury and Goaltenders Ryan Dauphin and Tristen Chiasson would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and all the Elmvale Coyotes Teams Good Luck in the new year!!
