McNamara Novices Move to 4-0 to Start Season
It was a busy weekend for the Novice Rep Coyotes this past weekend.  A long trip to Owen Sound on Friday, a Bottle Drive on Saturday, and their home opener on Sunday. Each day ended with great success as the team turned in 2 more victories to start the season 4-0, and the Bottle Drive was extremely successful due in most part to the support of Elmvale and the surrounding communities.

An early season trip to Owen Sound would test the Coyotes ability to travel well.  Although the game was a little sloppy throughout, Elmvale was able to get the lead early and take a 3-0 lead into the 3rd period.  About half way through the 3rd while killing their 2nd penalty of the game, Elmvale would give up their 1st goal of the young season. That goal ended the shutout string at 8 1/2 periods to start the season.  Elmvale answered back quickly to reclaim the 3 goal lead, and put it out of reach for the Jr Attack.  A late surge by the home team led to another goal but Elmvale was able to escape with a 4-2 victory.

Sunday was the home opener for the Coyotes as they faced off against the Oro Thunder.  Those who made it out were treated to a great performance by all 14 players.  Elmvale was able to carry the play for the most part, limiting Oro's scoring chances.  In the end it was a 5-1 win in what was the most complete effort by the team this year.

Saturday's weather wasn't the best to be wandering the streets collecting beverage bottles, but the kids got through the day, and both parents and players were astounded and humbled by the support that all the communities we visited showed.  Unfortunately we weren't able to get around to everybody, but those who we did see were extremely generous and for that we are extremely thankful.

The McNamara Novice Rep team continues their home stand next weekend with a game Saturday (3:20) vs Parry Sound, and Sunday (2:25) vs Penetang.
