ORR LAKE GOLF HAT TRICK TOURNAMENT RULES 2024

All OMHA and CHA Rules will apply plus the following additions:

1.  Each team must report to the arena they are playing in 30 minutes before their first game.   All necessary paperwork must be handed in prior to arrival  (approved roster, travel permit or letter of permission from their local hockey association).

2.  All teams must have a certified trainer on the bench at all times. Trainers can be shared between teams during games if agreed upon by both teams.

3.  All teams must be prepared to play 15 minutes prior to their scheduled game time.

4.  Handshaking will take place prior to puck drop.

5.  All IPad Gamesheets must be filled out and signed by both teams and returned to the tournament convenor 10 minutes before the start of the game.

6.  The team designated as the home team will occupy the home bench and wear light colour jerseys.

7.   All game suspensions shall be assessed as per OMHA regulations.  The only exception is a fighting major.  Any fighting major will result in automatic player disqualification for the remainder of the tournament.

8.  There will be a point system for the preliminary round robin play; 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, 0 points for a loss.

9.  There will be no overtime in Round Robin games.

10.  The length of all round robin games will be a three minute warm up, followed by a 10-10-10.  All games are stop time.  Running time will come into effect in the third period (for final 10 minutes only) when there is a 5 goal differential at any time.  Stop time will resume if the differential is reduced to 3.  Please make sure your team is ready to go when the Zamboni is off the ice and the back door is closed.

11.  All referee decisions are final.

Standings after Round Robin games of the tournament will be decided on the following basis:

1.  Team with most points.

2.  When two teams are tied:

  • Head to head

  • Highest scoring percentage (GF/(GF + GA)) Higher percentage takes the higher placing in the standings.

  • Fewest goals against

  • Fewest penalty minutes

  • Earliest goal scored in a game

  • Coin flip

3. When Three teams are tied.

  • Highest scoring percentage between tied games (GF/(GF + GA)) Higher percentage takes the higher placing in the standings.  

  • Highest scoring percentage in all RR games (GF/(GF + GA)) Higher percentage takes the higher placing in the standings.  

  • Fewest goals against

  • Fewest penalty minutes

  • Earliest goal scored in a game

  • Coin flip


Eliminations game (Semis and Finals Playoff games)

  1. One time out will be allowed to each team per game.

  2. Length of semi finals games will be a 3 minute warm up followed by 10-10-10.   

  3. The Championship finals will be 10-10-15 with a flood if time permits.  

  4. 1 - 5 minute stop time SUDDEN VICTORY will be played if tied after regulation time.  Play will be 4 on 4 format.

  5. If teams are still tied, a shootout will commence.

    1. All players, except shooters and goalies, will be on the bench

    2. Three different shooters will shoot.  

    3. If still tied after each team has had their three shootouts, then a sudden victory shootout will commence.  

    4. Each team will send one different player at a time to centre ice.  

    5. The first three cannot go again till everybody on the team has had a shot.

    6. From the fourth shooter on it becomes a sudden victory shoot out.  

    7. Any player serving a penalty at the end of the overtime period is not eligible to participate in the shootout
