Coyotes tie in Collingwood
With no NHL on Saturday night, the Elmvale Home Building Centre Bantam AE Coyotes
looked to give their fans some great hockey to watch when they traveled to
Collingwood for a Saturday night game. With only 7 regulars in their lineup
the Coyotes took to the ice with only 8 skaters to face the Red hot Collingwood
Blackhawks.
With just 8 players and facing a team on a win streak, this would have been an easy one for the boys to just hand Collingwood the dub. After playing a great first period that ended with no score, the boys were determined not to make these an easy 2 points for the Blackhawks.
Early in the second The Coyotes got some help when Caleb Pring arrived after a quick drive from Elmvale where he had just helped his team to a 4-1 victory. Midway through the second goaltender Ryan Dauphin would make a great pad save only to be pushed, pad and all, into the net by a Collingwood player putting the Blackhawks up 1-0. This would be the score the teams would take to the intermission.
The third period saw the Elmvale Coyotes dig deep and with 37 seconds left Jason Flury finally beat the Collingwood netminder on passes from Noah Bouzis and Philip Eales. This game was still not over and with 20 seconds left Flury found himself on a breakaway only to be denied by a brilliant save by the Collingwood goaltender. The Coyotes would kill off the last seconds ending the game 1-1 and satisfied with a well earned point.
