Parental Respect In Sport (PRS)
Submitted By kfay on Mon 09 14, 15
Again this season, Elmvale Minor Hockey is supporting the RESPECT IN SPORT - PARENT PROGRAM initiative of Hockey Canada and the OMHA.

IF YOU DID NOT COMPLETE THIS LAST SEASON, YOU WILL NEED TO DO IT THIS YEAR.

"The program encourages positive behaviour, effective communication, and provides valuable tools which can only enhance the enjoyment of our game for all stakeholders.”

It is MANDATORY that at least one parent or guardian of each player registered in EMHA complete the PARENT PROGRAM as a condition of participation in the 2015/16 season.  Each Respect In Sport program is distinctly different.

The ‘Respect in Hockey’ initiative will require all Team Officials, On-ice Volunteers, On-Ice Officials and Parents to take the appropriate ‘Respect’ education.  The one-hour online course is a proactive, educational program that empowers parents with the tools to ensure the game is enjoyable and respectful for themselves, their children and all other stakeholders in the game.

You will need to register yourself and your child(ren), and then complete the training at: https://omhahockeyparent.respectgroupinc.com.

Please note: Elmvale Minor Hockey has NOT provided pre-registration numbers (this is a question during the registration); also enter your child(ren)s name the same way you register them with Elmvale Minor Hockey – this will help with the process of matching them up to the OMHA records.

There is a $12 fee for the program, none of it comes to, or, goes through Elmvale Minor Hockey.
The breakdown of the fee is:
$1 E-learning fund, program admin
$1 Partner admin/promotion (NOT US)
$1 Canadian Red Cross curriculum partner
$1 PayPal invoicing fees
$8 Respect Group program maintenance, bilingual support, updates, hosting.

There is an opportunity to provide feedback once the course is completed.  Providing feedback will help with ongoing improvement to the content and usability of the system.

Please note that your child(ren) CAN NOT play hockey ANYWHERE that OMHA is the governing body for that association unless you complete this course! Thank you for your assistance with this process, and, ultimately for supporting Hockey Canada, OMHA, and Elmvale Minor Hockey’s commitment to player’s safety, enjoyment and success in the game of hockey!

If you are a coach, trainer or manager, you still must take this course regardless of whether you have a child playing or not, and regardless of whether your spouse has taken the course.

This is mandatory and your child will not be able to play without it.  Whether your player is tyke or midget, rep or house league, you MUST take this course.  Once the course is completed, it will electronically show up on your players registration, so our Registrar will know it is completed.

Your assistance in taking this course as early in September as possible, would be greatly appreciated. We will not be able to complete rosters without it.  Please follow the below link to take the course.
