Elmvale Lions Club Atom Rep Team Victorious in Port Dover
The Elmvale Coyotes Atom Rep squad took their skills on the road Nov 17 – 19th as they attended the Tom Butler Memorial Tournament in Port Dover, Ontario.

The tournament started off for the Coyotes with our first of 3 round robin games on Friday evening at 6:30pm against the Waterford Wildcats.

The Coyotes came out with a strong start and took a 2 goal lead early on.  Their tape to tape passing and excellent defensive positional play led the Coyotes to a 5-4 victory, and a great start to the tournament.  Leading the way for the Coyotes in this game was Jackson Clemens with 3 goals and 1 assist and Ethan Palmer with 2 goals including the game winner.

Saturday all cylinders were firing and the Coyotes were ready to build on their display of passing, back checking and  great team play as they opened up against the home team from Port Dover with a 11 – 2 victory.  Every Coyote player made the game sheet, including an assist for the net minder, Nolan Krause. Garrett Fay lead the point attack with 2 goals and 4 assists, with Emery Stephens scoring 1 goal and assisting on 2 others.

The 3rd test for the Coyotes was against South Kent.  The Coyotes picked up where they left off in their last game, coming out strong with accurate passing and excellent back checking resulting in an early lead.  Strong corner work digging for the puck and getting it out front paid off for the Coyotes.  Evan Mino scored to give the Coyotes a 3 -1 Lead.  Strong play by Cooper Mogridge and Mitchell Hales kept the South Kent team chances to a minimum and the Coyotes held on for a 3-2 win.  Bryson Yardy had 2 assists to help lead the team to victory.  This win gave the Lions Club Elmvale Coyotes first place in their pool and a chance to partake in the tournament finals.

Heading into the Final against the Simcoe Warriors the Coyotes were ready to continue their style of play and show the Warriors how this pack of Coyotes hunts.  Hunt they did, coming out stronger than any other game this weekend they pounced on the Warriors and quickly took the lead with 2 highlight reel goals, one from Jackson Clemens and another from Jacob Holt.  Preston Fay also scored a beautiful shorthanded goal to put the game out of reach.  The Coyotes played their game, passed, skated, found the open teammate and then the open corner of the net, leading to a 5 -0 victory and the CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY!  Noah Johnston was a force all game leading on the score sheet with 3 assists.

From the fans and parents, thank you for an exciting weekend of hockey and for showing us how these early morning practices are worth every minute.  Well done to all of the Atom Rep Coyotes for their hard work and team play.  To the Coaches, thank you for all your efforts and guidance on and off the bench.  The players all appreciate your wisdom and experience, and think it’s’ pretty cool when they win tournaments too!

Come out to support our Lions Club Atom Rep Coyotes who play their home games on Sundays you won’t leave disappointed.
