Telequip Bantams Go Head to Head With the Penetang Flames
It was early evening when the Coyotes entered The Den preparing to surround the opposing team and ready to attack!
The first period was fast and furious. Penetang saw pressure like never before. Eric Cote was letting no one by him, grinding into the boards and staying with his man at all cost. Andrew Somervill, with his speed and size, quickly became a target for Penetang and took a nasty hit, putting Penetang in the box. Giving the Coyotes the advantage. Even with this, the period ended with no score.
Second period was just as fast. The defense was pushing hard, keeping the opposition at bay. With 6:56 left, Nathan Marlow made a slick pass to Brian McFadden who showcased his speed, agility and quick hands by out skating the Penetang defence and snuck the puck right by the goal tender. He never had a chance! Coyotes took the lead, 1-0! The pressure was on, when Penetang went on a power play with 2 min left in the period. Justin Gautreau was a one man defensive machine and was all over the opposing players. Even with the great team effort and many saves by the Coyotes goal keeper, Tyler Johnston, with 3 seconds left, Penetang snuck one by Tyler putting them on the board and tying the game 1-1.
The 3rd period found both teams playing aggressive and hard. Jennifer Ritchie made a sweet check into the boards and was able to take possession of the puck and get it out of our end. The opposition came charging back down, but Dustin Duivenvoorden would not have them in his house and went hard into the boards and sent them right back where they came from. But in the end, the Coyotes found themselves deadlocked in a 1-1 tie.
