PeeWee LL2, U13, 2014-2015 (Elmvale Minor Hockey)

Each member of the coaching staff was asked to give one sentence to describe the year, and here’s what they had to say: Matt Herron (Coach):  “It was a coach’s dream!” Dayle Smith (Manager): “No player that played their heart out ever regretted it – that’s why this team has no regrets.  They played with their hearts, their heads and with 100% determination every shift, every game!  I feel so fortunate to be a part of this team.”

Have fun, work hard, play as a pack, and execute the game plan, finishing with 5 wins, 1 loss and 2 ties, for a total of 12 points in first place.   For those math die-hards out there, that’s a 0.75 win percentage.  We did it with style too, amassing the highest goals-for total with 27 and the lowest amount of goals-against at 17, and equally important was the 2nd fewest amount of penalty minutes eclipsed by only the other Elmvale LL team;  A bunch of sweet kids in Elmvale by the looks of it!

Short and sweet, it’s coming right down to the wire.  It’s anyone’s chance to take top spot during the round robin series of the Peewee Local League.  Last night’s Elmvale melee was much closer than the 4-0 score on the board indicated.  Both teams, played hard, passed well and fought for the puck.  In the end the Elmvale LL#2 team came out on top, but the play was so good from either team it could have gone either way. 

Other than the longest, darkest, scariest night time driving winter can throw at you (Yes the Reid Tank-Mobile filled with high-strung hockey energy might not have taken all the right turns to Shelburne...aka C.R 9 for 15km at 45km/h max speed behind an 18 wheeler in low gear grinding out twists and turn through back road country I'm sure was used to film the Blaire witch project or deliverance!), that’s the way to start of the playoffs.  Hard fought, fast paced hockey.  Although the score was 4-3 in favour of the Elmvale pack, the games was played much tighter by both teams.  At no time was ...
