First Tournament for FabriZone Tyke #2
FabriZone Tyke #2 traveled to Tillsonburg this past weekend for some fun action packed hockey! A night out at a hotel with a pool was kinda fun too!!

A weekend of ups and downs was the story for 2 action packed days of hockey.  Game #1 saw us up against the home team Tillsonburg Blues.  The boys came out firing giving us a 5-0 lead at the end of the first.  Tillsonburg was equally as strong in the second with 5 goals of their own but we held the lead 7-5 entering the third.  Kyle stood strong between the pipes and the Coyotes sniped 4 more goals securing an 11-5 win. Congratulations to Anthony and Riley earning 2 points each and Ollie with 4 points in the first game of their first tournament!

Game #2 vs the Dorchester #1 Flyers just 45 minutes later was a back and forth offensive battle nearly filling the game sheet with 25 goals between the two teams.  Being up by 2 goals then down by 3 goals, the boys gave all they had keeping pace with the Flyers.  Carter and Wyatt with strong play in the Flyers end contributed with 2 points each. Tough luck goalie Michael faced a barrage of shots keeping it close for the Coyotes.  With almost 4 minutes left in the third and down 12-10, Michael suffered a tournament ending knee injury having to leave the game.  Kyle volunteered and quickly changed on the bench and filled in the rest of the way.  Eventually going down 13-12 and suffering our first loss of the year.  The boys were clearly disappointed, but quickly cheered up finding out it was time to head to the hotel for pizza and a swim!!

Earning a spot in the B semifinals with a 1-1 record we had the tough task of defeating the Dorchester #2 Flyers to make it to the final.  Ollie volunteered to man the pipes and Michael on crutches came on the bench to cheer on his teammates.  A defensive battle was in store with a scoreless game until 20 seconds left in the second period when Isaac gave us a 1-0 lead. The third period had the fans on the edge of their seats. 2 goals each by Isaac and Luke and amazing defensive play by Jake and Jaxson with 2 assists each gave us the 4-2 victory!

Dorchester again!! The final game, a short 40 minutes after the end of the semi-final game found us up against the #3 Flyers team.  The boys were tired with the quick turn around but were up to the task.  The #3 Flyers were equally as ready to play.  With 5 minutes left in the second period, Luke was battling strong and went hard into the boards suffering our second knee injury of the tournament and was unable to continue.  Now with 3 spares on the bench the boys knew they had to step it up and 6 straight goals by Isaac gave us a 6-5 lead with 7:39 left in the third period.  The boys sensed victory but the 14 Flyer players with fresh legs were too much to handle and they took the game winning 9-6.  After collecting their finalist medals, and leaving the ice, long faces filled the dressing room. They quickly changed when we explained to the boys how all the parents and coaches were so very proud of how they played.  Congratulations to all the boys and thank you to the parents and coaches for making it a fun filled weekend.

Luke and Michael have both been for x-rays and although no broken bones were detected both are still injured and we wish them a speedy recovery.
