Lions Club Atoms on 10 game Winning Streak!
The Lions Club Atom team resumed their season schedule on November 23rd after a second place finish in the Doug Robinson tournament in Lincoln. Since then, the boys have played ten games over a three week period. Over that span the team has outscored its opponents by a mind boggling 51-4. The boys have put out teams from Stayner, Collingwood, Penetang, Midland, Wasaga Beach and Shelburne. The Coyotes continue to lead the league standings and with only three games remaining their magic number to clinch top spot sits at two.
It's been a remarkable run thus far as the team sports a 15-0-2 league record. Jacob Sanderson has done a fantastic job between the pipes this season. Some nights he doesn't see much rubber as his goals against average sits at a minuscule 1.12 through seventeen games. The defense core consisting of Jack Nell, Robbie Tolles, Logan Sandercock and Blake Columbus have all done an outstanding job limiting the opponents chances. The blueliners have also chipped in the odd goal which takes a lot of pressure off the forwards.
The Coaching staff of Donnie Robertson, Paul Priest and Dave Crowder have kept the team pointed in the right direction all season. It has been tough sometimes for them to keep the kids from developing bad habits against some easier competition but they continue to help the boys improve. With three games left on the schedule the team will use this opportunity to prepare for the playoffs.
The next home game will be against Wasaga on Friday night at 7:00pm. Come out and cheer on the team and see if they can make it eleven straight wins. Merry Christmas to everyone from the Atom Rep team and may it be a successful New Year both on and off the ice!
