Bantam AE Team Makes It To Semi's
On Friday Nov 23rd, the Elmvale Home Building Centre
Bantam AE Team traveled to Napanee to take part in the 2012 McCaw Mortgage Team
Napanee Combo Tournament. After a long drive the Coyotes arrived just in time
to open the tournament against the Grimbsy Peach Kings. After a back and forth
game and each team possessing the lead, the game would end in a fitting 4-4
tie.
Saturday morning a rested Coyote team took the ice against the Prince Edward County Kings. The Elmvale Coyotes played their best hockey of the season controlling most of the play and finished with a 4-0 victory.
The Coyotes 3rd game had them facing an undefeated Belleville Bulls team. The physical Bulls team capitalized on a couple of power plays and defeated a resilient Coyote team 3-0. With a record of 1-1-1 the Elmvale team went into the semi finals in second place.
Facing the Prince Edward County Kings and looking for a victory to put them into the finals the Coyotes once again heavily outplayed the Kings. Late in the game with what appeared to be a safe lead, the Coyotes had some bounces not go their way, and in what was a bizarre 2 minutes of hockey the Coyotes surrendered the lead. The Coyotes went on to dominate the last minutes of the game but were unable to find the equalizer ending their chances at the championship.
The boys played their best hockey of the year and look forward to returning to league play and will face off against the Owen Sound Jr Attack on Tuesday Dec 11th.
