The Gary Edgecombe CA Peewee Rep
Coyotes played two games before Christmas, December 21 and 23. The
first, a 6-1 loss at home to Wasaga Beach, was followed by a festive
Christmas gathering at Coach Sandy and Captain Matt Clarke's home.
The loss was analyzed and quickly put behind them.
Two days later in Midland, the team held a players only meeting, and came out skating, checking, and shooting like they did in the early part of the season. They faced the Midland Centennials in pre-season play back in September, but not again until now. The Coyotes took an early lead going up 2-0 after one. The second period saw penalties for both sides, but the Coyotes' solid goaltending by Brody Read kept the score the same after two. The third period saw two more goals for Elmvale and one fluttering puck spoil Read's shut-out. The game ended with a much anticipated 4-1 Coyote victory.
The boys have three regular season games to go, all played this week. Wednesday vs Midland, Thursday vs Penetang, and Sunday vs Oro. After that, OMHA playoffs begin. Elmvale is grouped with Wasaga Beach, Oro, and Penetang. Only one will move on to the next round.
Oro comes to Elmvale to close out the Pee Wee Rep season at 4:30 pm on Sunday, January 6. Come on out and cheer the boys on as they end the regular season and begin the post season.
