Elmvale Home Building Centre Bantam AE take on the Attack
On Nov 13th the Elmvale Home Building Centre Bantam AE's took on the visiting Owen Sound Jr Attack in the first of a home and home series with them. The first period was full of scoring chances and midway through the first, Thomas Maw found the back of the net with assists going to Alex Sweeney and Andrew Sommerville. More end to end action ensued and with 3:25 left in the first, Maw got his second assisted by Josh Tapscott and Sweeney.

Just 19 seconds later Maw finished off the natural trick on a play setup by Harrison Sibbald and Jakob Veenstra. Less than a minute later Maw would intercept a pass and put the Coyotes up 4-0. In the second the Coyotes continued to fire pucks at the Attack goaltender but were unable to increase their lead. Late in the second the Attack were able to put one by netminder Ryan Dauphin closing the score to 4-1.

The third period looked to be just a formality as Elmvale played to protect their lead but with 4 minutes left in the game the Coyotes managed to take 10 minutes in penalties giving the Attack all the opportunity they needed to get themselves back in the game. With just 18 seconds left the Attack were able to score their 4th special teams goal of the game tying the score 4-4.

On Friday the 16th the Coyotes made the drive to Owen Sound looking to bounce back after giving up a 4 goal lead just 3 days earlier. This game started out with body-checks being thrown aplenty by both teams. The Coyotes were not prepared for the physical Attack team and spent most of the first period struggling to get out of their own end.Midway through the first a bouncing puck found its way onto the stick of a wide open Owen Sound player who fired a shot past goaltender Tristen Chiasson.

Late in the first, Owen Sound would add to their lead and make the score 2-0. Early in the second the Coyotes finally figured out the Owen Sound system and Noah Bouzis tapped in a rebound from Landon McGinnis and Aidan McKinstry. Late in the second Thomas Maw took a pass from Darren Priest and tied the game at 2-2. Going into the third Elmvale had all the momentum and this resulted in several scoring opportunities. With most of the play being in the Owen Sound end, Elmvale soon found themselves on the power-play. Unfortunately some miscommunication in their own end resulted in a goal giving Owen Sound a 3-2 lead. With seconds left in the game, The Coyotes coaches tried to sneak an extra player on the ice only to be denied by the referee and ending any chance of a comeback making the final 3-2 for the Jr Attack.

The Elmvale Home Building Centre Bantam AE Team is back in action Tuesday Nov 20th in Elmvale, where they will be looking to put an end to this short winless streak against the rival Midland Centennials.
